I Love You Moment

This morning while shopping in the supermarket, I heard a toddler shouting on top of his voice: "I love you, mommy!" again and again and again. Wondering why he's being so sweet, I went near to him and told her mom, "He's so wonderful and so sweet, I feel so envious." Then she told that he's acting like that every time he needs something.

Oh, I love kids! They are short, highly emotional people who don't know anything. They only rely on their creativity and imagination and get by on the world, a world full of giants.

Have a nice breakfast moment and don't worry about what a child will become tomorrow, so as not to forget that he or she is someone today.

To Marvin Ace, Mark Ace and Yuan Dale, I really miss you guys! I'll see you soon and Papa loves you very much.

The Filipino Spirit

Every time I travel and go around Dubai, I see how rich and progressive this city have become. I can't help but feel envious of the progress the locals are enjoying and wish that the Philippines, too, would shape up and get going real soon.

There was one moment though, in one Indian restaurant, that made me realize that we are richer still despite our poverty. The waiter, a Hindu, observed how happy and joyful we Filipinos are. He said it was so easy for us to be warm and accommodating. He also observed how prayerful we are.

He said it so well: "When I have problems, I just go out, drink and have fun, and somehow forget. But you Filipinos, you pray, you turn to God, and you are peaceful and happy again."

How true.
We have our faith. We have a treasure.
It is not ours to keep, but to spread. Not ours to flaunt, but to share.

Have a solemn breakfast moment and let's be thankful for the gift of faith. Not ours to keep but ours to give.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

My friend, do you want to be rich? Do you believe in the saying that money is the root of all evil? The Bible says "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:24). Whoa! Does this mean that Bill Gates will probably wind up in hell? Of course not!

This is my opinion, if you can be rich and still focus on your heart being in the right place then money is not a problem. But if you put your greed before others need then there lies the root of the evil of money. Bottomline, it's just a matter of where your heart is. You can't serve two masters at the same time, either you serve one and despise the other.

So go ahead, be rich, earn as much as you can and then serve God through your richness, it's just material things and is not required in heaven.

The purpose of being rich is to help others. The more you give, the more you will receive, the more you share, the more you bless the world, the more you are doing the act of serving God, the Master.

Have a nice breakfast moment and let us always be a blessing to others.

The Persistent Man

A young man walks into a bar and asks the bar tender, “Do you have any grapes?" The bartender says, "No, we only sell beer here". The man leaves.

The next day the man walks back into the bar and asks the bar tender, "Do you have any grapes?" The bartender says, "No! I told you that we only sell beer, and if you ask me again I'm going to nail your tounge to the bar.” So the man leaves.

The next day the man walks back into the bar, and asks the bar tender “Do you have any nails?" The bar tender says "No." The man asks “Do you have any grapes?"

Have a nice breakfast moment and never consider the possibility of failure; as long as you persist, you will be successful.

"Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it's not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. it's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere." - Barrack Obama

The Fear Factor

My friend, a banker, had decided to get a dog for protection. As she inspected a likely candidate, the trainer told her, "He doesn't like men." Oh, perfect, my friend thought, and took the dog.

Then one day she was approached by two men in a parking lot, and she watched to see how her canine bodyguard would react. Soon it became clear that the trainer wasn't kidding. As the men got closer, the dog ran under the nearest car.

Have a fearless breakfast moment and remember that the only way to get rid of the fear of doing something is to go out... and do it.

One Last Look

The story is told about a taxi driver who went out of his way to pick up an 80-year-old woman who was leaving her house to go to an old folks' home. With a lonely heart, and with all her worldly possessions in one little suitcase, the lady asked to be brought around the city for the last time, down memory lane. After two hours, the taxi driver brought her to her new home without charging anything. She hugged him gratefully and said, "You gave an old woman a little moment of joy today. Thank you."

Our lives do not consist of great moments.

It's the little moments that we remember and affect us forever.

Enjoy your breakfast moment and accept the fact that people may not remember exactly what we did or said, but they will always remember what we made them feel.

Matchstick Moment

The story is told that there was once a family of matchsticks that lived miserably inside the dark matchbox.

One day, one of the matchsticks fell down when the matchbox was opened. He saw what the other members of his family were longing for - bright light. He also saw a man take out two matchsticks from the box. The first one was used by the man as a toothpick, the other for cleaning the ears! But his greatest joy was when he saw the man get another matchstick, strike it, and behold came forth the light! "My gosh," he said. "The light we have been looking and longing for, is within us! I must go back to my family and tell them the good news."

According to the story, the man saw the matchstick, picked it up from the floor and returned to the matchbox. His message was: "The light is within us." Some believed him, some did not.

Have a nice breakfast moment and believe in the goodness that is within us and within everybody, and to continue to live in the light.

The Expectant Father

Three men were sitting in the waiting room of a hospital. The nurse walks over to the first one and says, "Congratulations! You're the father of twins." "What a coincidence," he says. "I work for the Twin Towers." After awhile, the nurse comes out to congratulate the second man. "You are the proud father of triplets," she tells the man. "That's funny," says the new dad. "I work for 3M."

The third expectant father jumps up, a look of terror on his face, and runs for the door.
"Sir, where are you going?" the nurse calls out. He yells over his shoulder, "I work for 7 Eleven!"

Enjoy your breakfast moment and remember that being a father is different from being a husband.

LEANING

According to a text message I received, it is not true that beer makes you fat. On the contrary, beer makes you lean - lean on walls, lean on doors, and lean on people.

Enjoy your breakfast moment and let us lean on Him alone.

Who's The Boss

A man wanted to buy his son a parrot as a birthday present. The next day he went to the pet shop and saw three identical parrots in a cage. He asked the clerk, "how much is the cost for the parrot on the right?" The owner said it's $250. "What?", the man said. "Well what does it do? "Oh, he knows how to use all of the functions of Microsoft Office", responds the clerk. "He can do all of your spreadsheets and type all of your letters."

Then the man asked what the second parrot cost. The clerk replied, "$500, and aside from the talent of the previous one, he's an expert computer programmer".

Finally, the man inquired about the cost of the last parrot. The clerk replied, "$1,000." Curious as to how a bird can cost $1,000, the man asked what was this bird's specialty. The clerk replies, "Well to be honest I haven't seen him do anything. But the other two call him "BOSS".

Have a funny breakfast moment.

The Wiser

A starlet is seated next to a lawyer on a long flight. She craves her sleep, but he keeps waking her up. "Let's play a trivia game," he suggests. "If I answer wrong, I'll pay you $50. If you answer wrong, you owe me $5."

The starlet agrees, and the lawyer goes first. "What's the distance between the earth and the moon?"
The starlet hands the lawyer $5. Now it's her turn. "What goes up a mountain on three legs and comes down on four?" The lawyer is dumbstruck. He scans the internet, flips through his pocket encyclopedia, and texts every scientist he can find. No dice. Hours later, he wakes up the starlet, hands her $50, and asks, "So what's the answer?" Without a word, she hands him $5 and goes back to sleep.

Have a funny breakfast moment and remember this:
"A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength." [Proverbs 24:5]

Keeping The Duck

Visiting the countryside on a hunting trip, the well-dressed man from India takes aim and shoots a duck. But the fowl drops into a farmer's field, and the farmer claims it. Since both want it, the farmer suggests settling the dispute with an old fashioned hick-kick. "I'll kick you as hard as I can in the crotch, then you do the same to me," he explains. "Whoever screams the least gets the bird."

The city man agrees. So the farmer winds up and delivers a crushing blow to the man's privates, and he collapses to the ground. Twenty minutes later, when he finally manages to stand, he gasps, "My turn." "Nah," says the farmer, turning away. "You can keep the duck."

Have a funny breakfast moment & remember that listening is the beginning of understanding.

My Funny Kabayan

Gloria, Mike, Mel, and Juan were talking about their dream jobs. "I want to be a lawyer," Gloria began, "so that I can defend my countrymen." "I want to be a congressman," said Mike, "so I can draft laws to benefit my countrymen." "I want to be a doctor," said Mel, "so that I can cure my countrymen."

"How about you, Juan? What would you like to be?" asked Mike. Juan thought a moment and replied, "I'd like to be a countryman."

Enjoy your breakfast moment and always remember that only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.

A Man On A Diet

A man says to a friend, "My cousin is on a three-week diet." "Oh, yeah? How much has he lost so far?" "Two weeks."

Enjoy your breakfast moment and remember that it is more important to know what you're becoming rather than what you're getting.

"The only discipline that lasts is self-discipline." -Bum Phillips

Love, Sacrifice, and Humor

An elderly couple goes to Burger King, where they carefully split a burger and fries. A trucker takes pity on them and offers to buy the wife her own meal.
"It's all right," says the husband. "We share everything."

A few minutes later, the trucker notices that the wife hasn't taken a bite. "I really wouldn't mind buying your wife her own meal," he insists. "She'll eat," the husband assures him. "We share everything." Unconvinced, the trucker implores the wife, "Why aren't you eating?" The wife snaps, "Because I'm waiting for the teeth!"

Enjoy your breakfast moment and remind ourselves that true love requires lots of patience, sacrifice, and humor.

A Child's Pain

I remember the first time I succeeded in flying a kite. I had the school playground all to myself, and I remember shouting at the top of my voice looking at my kite while running so fast to keep it airborne. Then bam! I hit a post and fell down and was writhing in pain. After some moments, a playmate passed by. I thought he would help me, but just stared at me, did not even stop, and walked on.

That was many years ago. The pain falling down and losing a kite are all gone now, but i still feel the pain in my heart whenever I remember the cold, indifferent stare from the boy who didn't stop and passed me by.

Have a funny breakfast moment and let us remove the indifference and coldness in our heart. Maybe it was just an angel checking on me if I was alright.

Afraid To Love Again

It was several years since her teenage son had died in an accident, but she continued to grieve. And grieve she did to the point that she became cold to her other son. One day, this son could not take it anymore and asked her why she ignored him. She broke down before him, embraced him, and asked for his forgiveness. She finally told him that she loved him so much. She confessed that she was holding back her love because she was afraid, afraid to love much again, and get hurt much again.

Have a lovely breakfast moment and remember to love again and again in spite of hurts and pains.

What Is That? A Sparrow!

No need to say anything here. Just watch and tell it to yourself. This is worth a thousand words.

Have a nice breakfast moment. No big deal. Call your parents now.

Surprise, Surprise!

The story is told about an 85-year old widow who went on a blind date with a 90-year old man. When she returned, she was upset. "What happened, mother?" asked her daughter. "I had to slap his face four times." "You mean he got fresh?" "No," she answered, "I thought he was dead!"

Have a funny breakfast moment and always remember that there will always be surprises at any point in our life.

Are You Full?

There was once a teacher who put rocks in a glass container and asked the students if it was already full. When the students did not answer, he put in some pebbles. Next, he poured in the sand. Finally, he put in water and declared that the container was now really full. He went on to say that if the process was reversed, that is, if the water was put in first, then the container would be already right away full.

Lesson? Don't fill up your life with worthless things that will never make you full. You can have all the money, power, positions, pleasures, but if you don't have God, you are not still complete and you are never full.

Lakbay Buhay (Walk for Life) in Dubai

Thousands Walk for Typhoon Victims
Lily B. Libo-on

DUBAI — More than 8,000 people from all walks of life turned out at Gate 4 of Safa Park on Friday, October 9, 2009, to participate in the Lakbay Buhay (Walk for Life) to raise fund for the relief and rehabilitation of the typh
oon victims in the Philippines.

The walk was organised by the Philippine Business Council in coordination with the Red Crescent of Dubai, the Philippine Consulate and the Filipino community.

Lucille Ong, president of the Philippine Business
Community, told Khaleej Times that the 5,000 tickets issued to the first batch of registrants were used up in only 30 minutes.

“It was fun to have joined in this walk for a cause, but the most important is the successful raising of funds for the typhoon victims, which would be turned over to the Red Crescent of Dubai, and would channel it to the Philippine Red Cross for the relief and rehabilitation of the typhoon victims,” Ong said.

The amount raised is not known but according to unofficial estimates, it could be around Dh500,000 considering the turnou
t.

The registration which started at 7am ended only at 9.30am as the organisers had to accommodate the stream of participants who included people of other nationalities as well.

Five Balls

There are five balls we juggle in life -

FAMILY

FRIENDS

HEALTH

WORK

SPIRITUAL LIFE

Remember, of these five, only work is made of rubber. The rest are made of glass. Don't drop any of them. They are fragile. Handle with care.

Have a nice breakfast moment and know that there are a lot of important things in life, remind yourself of what is really important.

Taxi Moment

During one of my taxi rides here in Dubai, I met Mr. Desmond, who at around 50 is so full of life, goodness, simplicity and love for nature. What a humble and joyful person! When I asked him what his secret was, he told me: "Don't let anything or anyone destroy your peace. Keep your peace. If you get angry, you lose your peace. If you worry, you lose your peace." And here's my favorite part: "If you get upset, you've been set up!"

Wow! Behind these words is a man who has learned through the years of true humility and deep trust in Allah.

Have a peaceful breakfast moment and don't let anyone or anything destroy the peace that is in your heart.

A Coffee Moment

In one of my bus stops here in Dubai, I went to a coffee machine to get a cup of coffee. With no knowledge of Arabic, I tried to understand the instructions by looking at the pictures, counted the coins, took time to choose which button to press, and finally pressed one. Success!

But the grinding & dripping sound of the machine was soon overwhelmed by a frantic cry from the storekeeper who was running to me, shouting, "Daa Alkoub, Daa Alkoub!" (hope I got that right) I had all the machine figured out, but I forgot to put a cup to receive the dripping coffee!

Have a funny breakfast moment and always be ready and open to receive His graces.

A Very Touching Story About Father & Son

A son asked his father, "Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?" The father who, despite having a heart condition, said "Yes." So they went on to complete the marathon together. This father and son team went on to join every other marathons because the father will always joyfully say "Yes" to his sons request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, "Dad, lets join the Ironman together." To which, his father said "Yes" too. This is the insipiring love story of Dick and Rick Hoyt.

For those who dont know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island. This Father and Son team went on to complete the the race together.

Inspiring Thought About LIFE

Enjoy your breakfast moment. What's your inspiring thought? Please share it by posting your comment below. Thanks & God bless!

Keep Your Eye On The Ball

As a little boy my father loved to play catch with me. I wasn't very good at it but he would play anyway. He was always telling me "keep your eye on the ball" as I would not be able to catch even the easiest of throws.

As I got older, we didn't play catch as much. If I had a problem and would go to my father and ask for his advice, he would try to make a joke with me and say "keep your eye on the ball." We would both laugh because usually that advice did not apply to the problem, but he would just try to make me smile.

But I got the point. It's about focus. When I get in a stressful situation I just tell my myself "keep your eye on the ball."

Have a nice breakfast moment.

Grace and Joy

Today, I have a confession to make. I have two life companions.

Grace has been with me all these years. Grace has sustained me through my most difficult times. Grace has stayed with me and never left me, all these years.
Joy is my other life companion. Joy has given me so much consolation and comfort. Joy has encouraged me to go on in spite of my lonely moments.

Enjoy your breakfast moment and I thank God for grace and joy, my two companions in life.

Let Go, And Let God

One of my relatives sent me this beautiful text message: "Notice how God opens millions of flowers every day without forcing the buds!"

Don't try to force anything. Let life be a constant letting go and letting God.

Maybe that's what living in God means, "a constant letting go, and letting God."

If you live in God, you will live well. If you live well, you will live on it in the hearts of people. Relax, everything happens for a reason. Let go and let God...

Enjoy your breakfast moment.

Last Request

There is a story about a priest who asked the convict seated at the electric chair if he had a last request. "Yes, Father. Please stay with me and hold my hands," was the convict's reply.

Have a funny breakfast moment and remind ourselves that He will be with us no matter what.

Good Luck, Bad Luck!

In my work today, I experienced some good things, and well, the not so good things. Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?

This is what I've reflected upon. Everything that seems on the surface to be bad may be a good in disguise. And everything that seems good on the surface may really be bad. I'm proud to say I'm wise when I leave it to God to decide what is a good fortune and what is misfortune. And I thank Him that all things turn out good because I love Him. I've also learned that:

1. No matter what happens how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.
2. Making a "living" is not the same as making a "life".
3. Life sometimes gives a second chance.
4. If I pursue happiness, it will elude me. But if I do the best I can, happiness will find me.
5. Whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.
6. I still have to learn a lot.
7. Life is short so I should laugh more.

Be Humble

A lawyer, driving on a country road, encountered a crowd in one intersection. Thinking cleverly and wanting to throw his weight around to get to the scene, he shouted, "Let me through! I am a relative of the victim!" Upon hearing this, the crowd made way for him and lo and behold, lying in front of everyone was a dead pig run over by a car.

Have a funny breakfast moment and remember that the way to the right path is not through deceit and pride but though honesty and humility.

Perfect Timing

On one of my morning walks, I suddenly stopped to tie my shoelaces. While I was doing that I heard a crashing sound. A few meters ahead of me, in the direction where I was going, a huge branch had fallen from a mango tree. I f I had not stopped, that branch would surely have fallen on me!

Have a safe breakfast moment and remember that everything happens for a reason. And that He is always with us in so many ways more than what we can know or imagine.
